On the 13th October we arranged to join in on the media groups meeting with Chris Hainstock, who took the vast majority of our sound for film lectures and seminars in years one and two. This meeting was incredibly productive and Chris even spoke to Luke and I afterwards and suggested meeting privately with him for some specific tuition built around on set dialogue. This would be extremely helpful for us, as we have never learnt the intricacies of these techniques in classes, so any advice from an expert is great for us.
Chris also spoke to the group about developing their script ideas and really challenging their work and not just accepting the first idea they went with. This was pleasing for me personally as if I am completely honest I was not keen on the route the project was going down, after agreeing to record the sound on a completely different script premise. However I felt it wasn’t my place to mention how I felt, as after all, my role is sound and the script and film is their domain. It’s completely different from our other projects as we’ve had complete control of them throughout the entire process but with this we are relying heavily on another group sticking to a schedule (which we have been told by lecturers will never be accurate!).
However we have arranged several meetings for this week and the signs are encouraging, so I’m confident the group can produce a solid script.
